Windows not Connecting to wireless Network

You can connect your Surface to wireless networks using the built-in Wi-Fi. Some Surface models also come with built-in mobile broadband capability.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Step 1: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
(If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of screen, move the mouse pointer down, and click Settings.)
Step 2: Tap or click the wireless network icon .
A list of available wireless networks appears.
Step 3: Tap or click a wireless network to connect to it.
Step 4: Tap or click Connect.
If prompted, enter your network security key (network password), and tap or click Next.
If you need help finding your wireless network password, see How to find your wireless network password.
Step 5: If prompted, choose whether you want to share with other computers and devices on the network.
Choose No if you’re connecting to a network in a public place like a café.
Step 6: To see if you’re online, go to Start and tap or click Internet Explorer.
Some wireless networks may require you to enter a password in a browser window.

Connect to mobile broadband

If you have a Surface model with mobile broadband, you can also connect to a mobile broadband network. Here’s how:

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
Tap or click the wireless network icon .
Under Mobile broadband, choose the name of your operator—for example, AT&T (4G LTE).
If you want to connect to this network every time it’s in range, choose Connect automatically. Windows will switch automatically between Wi-Fi and mobile broadband as needed. You might incur extra charges if you allow roaming.
Tap or click Connect.

You can choose to forget a wireless network so it no longer appears in your list of networks. Here’s how:

Tap or click Change PC settings, tap or click Network, and then tap or click Connections.
Under Wi-Fi, tap or click Manage known networks.
In the list of networks that appears under Choose a network to forget, tap or click any network, and tap or click Forget.
