The Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking N Adapter is compatible with both the original Xbox 360 console and the Xbox 360 S console. If you connect the adapter to an Xbox 360 S console, it will disable the internal wireless N feature of the console. (Using the external adapter may improve signal strength and bandwidth if your wireless access point is far from your console.)
How to connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter
To connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to your Xbox console, follow these steps:
- Attach the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of your Xbox 360 console by snapping the plastic tabs on the adapter into the slots on the back of your console.
Note The Xbox 360 S console doesn’t have these slots because the console has internal wireless capability. However, in some cases, the Wireless N Networking Adapter will offer better range and bandwidth compared with the internal wireless feature of the Xbox 360 S console. If you are using the Wireless N Networking Adapter with the Xbox 360 S console, extend the feet of the adapter to allow the adapter to sit on the console or off to the side.
- Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the back of your console.
Note If you are using a wireless adapter and a Kinect sensor, use the wireless adapter extension cable included with the Kinect sensor to plug the wireless adapter into a USB port on the front of the console.
